- Medical information (for emergencies)
- Full access to memories
For Pet Sitters
Focus on care:
- Medications (essential)
- Feeding instructions (essential)
- Vet information (for emergencies)
- Photos (optional, but helpful)
For Boarding Facilities
Include requirements:
- Vaccination records
- Medications
- Feeding instructions
- Vet contact
- Emergency information
For Social Sharing
Keep it light:
- Basic profile only
- Photos if desired
- Skip medical information
Setting Link Expiration
Control how long your share link works:
- When creating a share link, find Expiration
- Choose an option:
- 7 days - Short-term sharing (vacation)
- 30 days - Medium-term (regular sitter)
- 1 year - Long-term (family)
- Never - Permanent access
- The link stops working after the expiration date
When to Use Expiration
- Vacation sitters: Set to expire after your return
- One-time shares: 7-day expiration
- Permanent family access: No expiration (but you can revoke anytime)
Updating Share Settings
To change what an existing link shares:
- Go to your pet's Settings > Sharing
- Find the share link
- Click Edit
- Toggle categories on or off
- Changes apply immediately
The same URL continues working, but shows updated information.
Privacy Considerations
Think about what you're sharing:
- Photos may contain background details (your home, location)
- Vet address reveals your general location
- Medications are private health information
- Phone numbers should only go to trusted recipients
Best Practices
- Only share what's necessary for the purpose
- Use expiration dates for temporary needs
- Review active shares periodically
- Revoke links when they're no longer needed
What Recipients See
When someone opens your share link:
- They see a read-only view of your pet's profile
- Only the categories you enabled are visible
- They cannot edit or delete anything
- They don't need a Petfolio account
Sitter Mode
If you've enabled sitter features, recipients can:
- Log activities (feeding, walks, etc.)
- Add visit notes
- Upload photos during visits
See Sitter Mode Overview for details.
Revoking Access
To stop a share link from working:
- Go to Settings > Sharing
- Find the link to disable
- Click Revoke or Disable
- The link immediately stops working
You can re-enable if needed, generating a new URL.
