Creating Share Links

Petfolio's share links let you securely share your pet's information with anyone who needs it, from family members to pet sitters and boarding facilities.

What Can Be Shared?

When you create a share link, you can choose what information to include:

• Basic profile - Name, photo, breed, age
• Photos and memories - Your pet's gallery
• Milestones - Important dates and achievements
• Medications - Current medications and schedules
• Vet information - Your vet's contact details
• Weight history - Weight tracking data

You control exactly what each recipient can see.

Creating a Share Link

To create a shareable link:

1. Go to your pet's profile
2. Click the Share button
3. Toggle on/off the sections you want to share
4. Set an expiration date (optional)
5. Click Create Link
6. Copy the link or share directly via messaging apps

Managing Share Links

To view or modify your share links:

1. Go to your pet's Settings page
2. Look for the Sharing section
3. You'll see all active share links
4. Click any link to:
   • Copy the URL
   • Change permissions
   • Disable the link

Disabling a Share Link

If you need to revoke access:

1. Go to Settings > Sharing
2. Find the link you want to disable
3. Click Disable
4. The link will immediately stop working

Sitter Mode

Share links include a special Sitter Mode for pet caregivers:

• Sitters can log meals, walks, and activities
• You'll see their updates in real-time
• Great for vacations and regular pet sitting

Setting Up for a Pet Sitter

1. Create a share link with all relevant info
2. Include feeding instructions in your pet's profile
3. Share the link with your sitter
4. They can start logging activities right away

Tip: Include your emergency contact info and vet details so sitters know who to call if needed.

Link Security

Your share links are designed to be secure:

• Unique URLs - Each link has a random, unguessable token
• Expiration dates - Set links to expire automatically
• Revocable - Disable any link instantly
• No account required - Recipients don't need a Petfolio account

Best Practices

• Only share links with people you trust
• Set expiration dates for temporary access
• Disable old links when they're no longer needed
• Review active links periodically

Sharing via QR Code

For quick sharing:

1. Create a share link
2. Click Show QR Code
3. Let the recipient scan with their phone camera
4. They'll be taken directly to your pet's shared profile

This is perfect for:

• Pet sitter handoffs
• Veterinary visits
• Doggy daycare check-ins
• Pet ID tags (print and attach to collar)

Troubleshooting

"Link not found" error

This usually means:

• The link has expired
• The link was disabled by the owner
• There's a typo in the URL

Recipient can't see certain sections

Check that those sections are enabled in your share settings. Go to Settings > Sharing and verify the permissions.
