Setting Up Your Profile

Your profile contains your personal information and preferences that apply across all your pets. Setting it up properly ensures a better experience with Petfolio.

Accessing Your Profile

To get to your profile settings:

1. Click your profile icon in the top navigation
2. Select Profile from the dropdown menu
3. Or navigate directly to the profile page

Personal Information

Updating Your Name

Your display name appears throughout the app and on shared profiles:

1. Go to Profile
2. Click Edit Profile or the pencil icon
3. Enter your preferred name
4. Click Save Changes

Adding a Profile Photo

Upload an avatar to personalize your account:

1. Go to Profile
2. Click on your current avatar (or the placeholder)
3. Select Upload Photo
4. Choose an image from your device
5. Crop if needed and confirm

Contact Information

Add your phone number for emergency features:

1. Go to Profile
2. Find the Phone Number field
3. Enter your number
4. Click Save

This number appears on your pets' emergency cards, so keep it current.

Preferences

Weight Unit

Choose how weights are displayed throughout the app:

1. Go to Profile > Preferences
2. Select your preferred unit:
   • Pounds (lbs) - Imperial system
   • Kilograms (kg) - Metric system
3. The change applies immediately to all weight displays

Theme Preference

Control the app's appearance:

• Light Mode - Bright interface, good for daytime use
• Dark Mode - Darker colors, easier on the eyes at night
• System - Automatically match your device's setting

You can also toggle the theme quickly using the sun/moon icon in the navigation bar.

Notification Settings

Control what alerts you receive:

1. Go to Profile > Notifications
2. Toggle each notification type:
   • Medication reminders - Alerts when medications are due
   • Sitter updates - Notifications when sitters log activities
   • Weekly summaries - Recap emails of your pets' week
3. Changes save automatically

Security Settings

Changing Your Password

If you signed up with email:

1. Go to Profile > Security
2. Click Change Password
3. Enter your current password
4. Enter your new password twice
5. Click Update

Connected Accounts

If you signed up with Google, you'll see your connected account here. You can't disconnect it without setting up an email/password first.

What to Set Up First

We recommend completing these items:

1. Display name - So your profile looks professional when shared
2. Phone number - Critical for emergency cards
3. Weight unit - Match your preference before adding weight records
4. Notification preferences - Get only the alerts you want

Profile Completeness

A complete profile helps you get the most out of Petfolio:

• Emergency cards include your contact info
• Sitters know who to contact
• Weight displays match your expectations
• You receive relevant notifications
