Memorial Mode

Losing a pet is incredibly difficult. Petfolio's memorial mode helps you preserve and honor your pet's memory while keeping all their photos and records accessible.

What Is Memorial Mode?

Memorial mode transforms your pet's profile into a lasting tribute:

• A memorial banner appears on their profile
• All photos, milestones, and memories remain intact
• The profile becomes a place to remember and celebrate your pet
• Health tracking features are hidden (no longer needed)
• Sharing still works so family can view the memorial

When to Use Memorial Mode

Memorial mode is for pets who have passed away. It:

• Preserves everything you've captured about your pet
• Provides a dignified way to keep their profile
• Removes active care features that are no longer relevant
• Creates a lasting digital memorial

There is no obligation to use memorial mode. Some pet owners prefer to keep profiles as they were, while others appreciate the memorial format.

Enabling Memorial Mode

To enable memorial mode:

1. Go to your pet's profile
2. Navigate to Settings
3. Find the Memorial Mode section
4. Click Enable Memorial Mode
5. You'll be asked to confirm this choice
6. Optionally add a memorial message

Adding a Memorial Message

When enabling memorial mode, you can add a personal message:

• A few sentences about your pet
• A favorite memory
• The dates they were with you
• Anything you want visitors to see

This message appears on the memorial banner.

What Changes in Memorial Mode

Visible Changes

• Memorial banner - Appears at the top of the profile
• Memorial message - Your tribute is displayed prominently
• Softer visual tone - The profile feels more reflective

Hidden Features

These features are hidden but data is preserved:

• Health tracking (weight, medications)
• Medication reminders
• Vet appointment scheduling
• Active care features

Preserved Features

These remain fully accessible:

• Gallery - All photos and memories
• Milestones - Your pet's life timeline
• Profile information - Basic details and story
• Share links - Family and friends can still view

Sharing a Memorial

You can share your pet's memorial with others:

1. Create a share link as usual
2. The shared view shows the memorial format
3. Recipients see photos, milestones, and your tribute
4. No account required for viewers

This is meaningful for:

• Family members who loved your pet
• Friends who want to remember
• Creating a lasting tribute you can revisit

Disabling Memorial Mode

If you enabled memorial mode by mistake, you can disable it:

1. Go to your pet's Settings
2. Find the Memorial Mode section
3. Click Disable Memorial Mode
4. Confirm your choice

Your pet's profile returns to normal, with all features restored.

Memorial Mode vs. Deleting

We recommend memorial mode if you want to keep your memories. Deletion is irreversible.

Keeping Multiple Pets

If you have other pets, enabling memorial mode for one doesn't affect the others:

• Active pets appear normally on your dashboard
• Memorial pets may be shown differently (grayed out or in a separate section)
• You can still access memorial profiles anytime

A Note on Grief

Losing a pet is a real loss. Take all the time you need. There's no requirement to use memorial mode immediately, or ever. Your pet's profile will be here whenever you're ready.

Some find comfort in:

• Looking through old photos
• Sharing memories with family
• Adding a final milestone or message
• Simply knowing the memories are preserved
