Using the Gallery

Your pet's gallery is a visual timeline of memories. Learn how to browse, organize, and interact with your photo collection.

Gallery Views

Grid View

The default view shows photos in a grid layout:

• Thumbnails are arranged chronologically
• Most recent photos appear first
• Click any thumbnail to open the lightbox
• Scroll to load more photos

Lightbox View

Click any photo to open the lightbox:

• View the full-size image
• See the caption and date
• Navigate between photos with arrows or swipe
• Access photo actions (favorite, download, delete)
• Press Escape or click outside to close

Marking Favorites

Star your best photos to find them easily:

1. Open a photo in the lightbox
2. Click the heart icon or Favorite button
3. The heart fills in to show it's favorited
4. Click again to unfavorite

Finding Your Favorites

Favorited photos are highlighted in the gallery. You can also:

• Use the Favorites filter to show only starred photos
• Favorites appear first when this filter is active

Viewing Photos

Navigation

In the lightbox view:

• Arrow keys - Move between photos (desktop)
• Swipe - Move between photos (mobile)
• Escape - Close the lightbox
• Click the X button to close

Photo Information

Each photo shows:

• Caption - Your description of the photo
• Date - When the photo was taken
• Favorite status - Heart icon filled or empty

Downloading Photos

Save photos to your device:

1. Open the photo in lightbox view
2. Click the Download button (or down arrow icon)
3. The photo saves to your downloads folder

Downloading Multiple Photos

To download several photos:

1. Some browsers let you right-click and "Save Image As"
2. Or download them one at a time from the lightbox
3. For bulk downloads, consider using the data export feature

Deleting Photos

Remove photos you no longer want:

1. Open the photo in lightbox view
2. Click the Delete button (trash icon)
3. Confirm the deletion when prompted
4. The photo is permanently removed

Important Notes on Deletion

• Deleted photos cannot be recovered
• Deletion removes the photo from all shared links
• Consider downloading before deleting
• There is no "recently deleted" recovery folder

Organizing Your Gallery

By Date

Photos are automatically organized by date. Ensure accurate dates by:

• Checking photo metadata before uploading
• Manually setting dates for older scanned photos
• Uploading photos close to when they were taken

Using Captions

Consistent captions help you find photos later:

• Include the occasion (Birthday, Beach day, Vet visit)
• Add the year for older photos
• Mention people or places when relevant

Sharing Gallery Photos

Photos can be included when you share your pet's profile:

1. Create a share link (see Creating Share Links)
2. Enable the Photos toggle
3. Recipients can view your gallery
4. They cannot download or modify photos

What Sitters See

When you share with pet sitters, they can view:

• All gallery photos (if enabled)
• Photo captions
• But not favoriting or deletion controls

Tips for a Great Gallery

• Upload regularly - Don't wait for photos to pile up
• Add captions - Future you will appreciate the context
• Mark favorites - Highlight your best shots
• Delete duplicates - Keep your gallery clean
• Mix it up - Include different types of photos
